First album I ever bought

The Black Skirts - Thirsty

I think the first album I ever bought was Thirsty by The Black Skirts. I usually listen to music online rather than on CDs or tapes, but I bought it because I wanted to show my personal respect to The Black Skirts, who created the album. The sad thing is that I dropped it right after I bought it, and the case cracked, but I think, surprisingly, it goes well with the design. After buying this album, I also bought a CD player and listened to it a few times.

검정치마의 Thirsty를 처음 산 것 같아요. 원래 노래를 들을때 CD나 테이프보다는 온라인 스트리밍을 사용하지만, 그 앨범을 만든 검정치마에게 개인적 존경심을 표하고 싶은 마음과.. 순간적인 충동으로 구매했습니다. 사자마자 떨어뜨려서 케이스에 금이 간게 슬프지만.. 이젠 나름 디자인과 잘어울린다고 생각도 합니다. 이 앨범 구매 후 CD 플레이어도 사서 몇번 들어봤어요.

Eminem - Not Afraid

There are so many songs that I like and love, but... the song that changed my life is maybe a little unexpected:, Eminem's Not Afraid. Not Afraid is a song that a friend recommended to me when I was in middle school. I listened to the songs on the MP3 my father bought me without even knowing what the song was. It led to me getting really into hip-hop and starting to make music. The music I’m making now is quite far from hip-hop, but you could say that it's a song that made me who I am today. (That doesn't mean I listen to it now, though. Haha)

좋아하고 사랑하는 노래는 정말 많지만.. 제 인생을 바꾼 노래는 뜬금없게도 Eminem의 "Not afraid"입니다. "Not afraid"는 중학교 시절, 아버지가 사주신 mp3에 들어있던 노래만 무슨 노래인지도 모르고 듣던 제게 친구가 추천해준 노래입니다. 이후에 힙합에 푹 빠져 음악을 시작하는 계기로 이어졌던 것 같아요. 어찌보면 지금의 음악은 힙합과는 조금 멀어졌지만 지금의 절 만들어준 노래라고도 볼 수 있겠죠. (그렇다고 지금 듣지는 않습니다.ㅋㅋ)

Mozart - Jupiter

I never thought I would become a musician or artist when I was young, so unlike my friends and fellow artists, I don't have many songs that I remember. But if I had to pick one from memory, it would be Mozart's Symphony No. 41 in C Major "Jupiter", which I first played in an orchestra when I was young. When I hear the stormy intro, I think of my childhood when I played the cello.

어린 시절 제가 음악가나 예술을 하게 되리라 생각해본적이 없어서 다른 친구, 동료 아티스트들과 달리 전 추억의 노래가 별로 없습니다. 하지만 기억을 더듬어 뽑아보자면.. 어린 시절 오케스트라에서 처음으로 연주했던 모차르트의 Symphony No.41 in C Major "Jupiter" 아닐까요. 몰아치는 폭풍같은 전주를 들으면 첼로를 키던 어린 시절이 떠올라요.

Bread - Aubrey

Ah!! I can answer this right away. It's Aubrey by Bread. The first time I heard it... I still remember crying because of the beautiful melody.

아!! 이건 바로 대답할 수 있어요. Bread의 "Aubrey"입니다. 처음 듣자마자.. 너무나 아름다운 선율에 눈물이 흘렀던게 아직도 기억나요.

The last album that blew my mind

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool

Hmm.. I've been going back and forth, trying to find my musical roots, but I like Radiohead the most. That's why the Radiohead albums and songs that I like the most and listen to are always included. Right now, my favourite album is Radiohead's 9th studio album, A Moon Shaped Pool. The iconic guitar work in the latter half of Decks Dark, the anxious tempo of Ful Stop, the folk horror lyrics of Burn the Witch, True Love Waits, etc. It's an album that I really love.

음.. 여태껏 제 음악의 뿌리를 찾느라 이리저리 돌아왔지만. 전 라디오헤드를 가장 좋아합니다. 그래서 어느때나 가장 좋아하고 가장 많이 듣는 앨범과 노래에 라디오헤드가 포함되어 있는데요. 지금은 돌고돌아 라디오헤드의 정규 9집 A Moon Shaped Pool를 가장 좋아합니다. Decks Dark의 아이코닉한 후반부 기타 연주, Ful stop의 불안한 속도감. Burn the Witch의 포크 호러적 가사.. True Love Waits등.. 정말 사랑하는 앨범입니다.

Radiohead - Bodysnatchers

Well, if I died tomorrow, I’d choose Bodysnatchers by Radiohead. My friends will know why: whenever I pick up the guitar, I tune it to Drop D and then play Bodysnatchers.

뭐, 내일 죽는다 한다면. 라디오헤드의 Bodysnatchers. 친구들은 왜인지 바로 알겠죠. 전 기타를 잡으면 일단 Drop D 튜닝한 다음에 Bodysnatchers를 치거든요.

One song that you have made that has significant emotional meaning

The Final Years – Young Oh

My favourite song? The last track of my second album, Everlast, and the first song I wrote: The Final Years. This song was written when I finally gained the courage to look to tomorrow after always looking at the past and feeling sad, angry, and frustrated. It's a song that makes me long for it. Thank you.

제가 가장 사랑하는 제 노래. 정규 2집 [영영]의 마지막 트랙이자.. 가장 처음으로 쓴 곡, "만년"입니다. 늘 지나간 과거만 보며 슬퍼하고 분노하고 좌절하던 제가 드디어 다시 내일을 볼 용기가 생겼을때 쓴 노래라.. 애틋한 마음이 있습니다. 감사합니다.
