Comeback Wish List - Why we want to see 웨터 (Wetter) come back in 2025

Written by Mica (@mishckah)

웨터 (Wetter) is a band I wish I hadn’t discovered. And I mean that in the best way possible. While scrolling through their discography, I was instantly hooked on the dreamy guitar rifts and edgy, surfer rock melodies. But heartbreak set in soon after I learned their days of creating music were cut short.

First, let’s start with some brief history—웨터 consisted of four members:  vocalist Choi Wonbin (최원빈), guitarist Chae Jiho (채지호), bassist Jung Jihoon (정지훈), and drummer Heo Jinhyeok (허진혁). The group first debuted with the single "Who" in November of 2016. Subsequently, the indie-rock band released EPs, digital singles, and OSTs. However, after a few years, they disbanded in 2020 after all members began their military service. Since completing service, they remained apart.

Although no new music by 웨터 is on the horizon, don’t pass up the chance to become a fan. Their discography houses incredibly funky, jumpy beats and chill vocals. To understand their distinct vibe, tune into their singles 꼰대 and Mr. Sunshine; which are perfect for summer days, road trips, and strolls around the city.

It’s not hard to see why 웨터 is still as beloved now as they were in their prime. Five years after their split they are still sporting 17.7k followers on Instagram and up to 22.9k monthly listeners on Spotify. Just goes to show how desperately they are missed.

While there is no evidence of any resurgence, their music remains in the hearts and playlists of diehard fans. And, they’re still being discovered by new listeners—like me! So, let's hope that maybe one day we’ll get a 웨터 revival.
